A faculty development program was held on 14th July 2017, Friday at 1 pm in the Media room. The topics addressed were Self-directed learning and the revised subject syllabus template. Dr Gabriel Dakubo and Dr P Ravi Shankar facilitated the workshop. Dr S Patra, Dr A Cox, Dr Catalina, Ms S Santos, Dr Tellamina, Dr Selvaraj and Ms. S Salins participated. Dr R Balasubramanium, Dr Gokul and Dr Klir also graced the occasion.
Dr Shankar presented an overview of self-directed learning (SDL) and highlighted why it is important. The spectrum of SDL, tips for effective SDL, and opportunities and challenges for SDL at AIMU were explored through an interactive presentation. Dr Dakubo talked about the revised subject syllabus template for basic sciences and the reason for the modification. The importance of linking subject learning objectives with AIMU competencies was stressed. The session concluded with an activity where participants in two groups worked on linking specific AIMU objectives with learning objectives in a particular subject.
