A faculty development program was held on 6th October 2017, Friday at 1 pm in the Media room. The topic addressed was ‘Lesson planning’. Dr P Ravi Shankar, Associate Dean and a FAIMER Fellow in Health Professions Education facilitated the session. Dr S Patra, Dr A Cox, Dr Kumari, Ms S Santos, Dr Tellamina, Dr Selvaraj, Dr Abue, Dr Dakubo, Dr Balasubramanium, Dr G Garg, Dr A James and Dr C Rose participated. Dr Klir, the Dean was present throughout the session. Nurse Leon, Associate Dean of Nursing and Mr Elumalai from the School of Nursing also participated.
Dr Shankar discussed the attributes of a good teacher, the components of a lesson plan and the advantages of lesson planning. An interactive discussion about various components of a lesson plan followed. The discussion was followed by an activity where participants in two groups created a lesson plan for a two hour activity-based session for basic science MD students at AIMU. The session concluded with the presentation of letters of participation by the Dean, Dr Klir.
