Orientation session for standardized patients held

An orientation session for the newly recruited standardized patients (SPs) was held on Friday, 12th January in the media room. The session was conducted by a team consisting of Dr Garg, Dr James and Dr Tellamina who are practicing physicians. The two standardized patients (SPs), Ms Sandy St Claire and Mr Kendall Antoine attended. Ms Sandy and Mr Kendall are local St Lucians interested in contributing to the education of medical students. The Associate Dean, Dr Ravi also attended.

The two SPs were briefed about what is a SP, the importance of SPs, how they should prepare for their role and what is expected from them. They were introduced to various components of a history and about how to interact with and provide information to medical students. The SPs will commence their training with the faculty team from next week. We at AIMU are excited about this development which will strengthen early clinical exposure of basic science students.
