AMSA AIMU chapter receives “The Paul R. Wright Chapter Success Award”

AMSA AIMU chapter receives “The Paul R. Wright Chapter Success Award”

On March 09, 2018, AMSA-AIMU International chapter reached greater heights and global recognition. The AIMU chapter was recognized for its service with the prestigious “The Paul R. Wright Chapter Success Award” at the 68th Annual AMSA Convention & Exposition, held at Washington DC, United States. Mr. M Sai Sankeerth who serves as AMSA AIMU Board Adviser received the award on behalf of the chapter.

AMSA at AIMU was reinstated as an active chapter during the year 2015. During the strenuous period of reorganization, Mr. Sankeerth had the privilege to work as a Chapter President during 2015-16, and thereafter continuing his service as Board adviser till date. During the course of three years, under his leadership, the AIMU chapter has been honoured with two different institutional memberships that extended the chapter privileges with AMSA, and organized and participated in numerous out-reach activities. Mr. Sankeerth and the chapter had the opportunity to work with the national staff and they supported him and the chapter with constant encouragement for continued growth. Mr. Sankeerth and other AMSA members believe that as Caribbean medical students, they have always envied the privileges US medical school students were entitled to, to name a few Advocacy, Volunteering, Research, Leadership and much more. Due to limited resources and other reasons, medical school students from off shore schools in the Caribbean might not have many of these opportunities. “The Paul R. Wright Chapter Success Award”, sponsored by Wolters Kluwer, recognizes chapters that support AMSA’s mission and are dedicated to inspiring future physician leaders, through local events, programming activities, leadership development initiatives, or calls for actions.

It is a thrilling moment to receive this award, and an honourable validation of the AIMU chapter’s hard work in the past three years. Every AMSA member has contributed toward this success and major achievement and Mr. Sankeerth played an instrumental role as a dynamic leader. Dr Patra, the faculty advisor and other faculty members wish to convey, to all of AMSA‘s associates at the local and national level a heartfelt thanks for recognizing the AIMU chapter!

AMSA offers wonderful opportunities for physicians in training and serves as a portal of success! We hope that every medical school student chooses to learn through the student-governed organization and trains to be a better physician.
