AIMU was represented and received recognition during the 5th International Congress on Lung Cancer and COPD held on June 25-26, 2018 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The Executive Dean of AIMU, Dr. John Klir, a member of the Organizing Committee, presented the Keynote Speech titled Role of Pro-inflammatory Cytokines in Development and Progression of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Dr. Klir also chaired the plenary discussion as well as the session on Pathophysiology of COPD. The conference was based on the theme “Emerging Prospects and Responsive Discussion on Lung Cancer and COPD: Breathe better, Live better.”The Congress provided excellent opportunities for all medical professionals, scientists, researchers, students, representatives of medical and pharmaceutical industries, business delegates, and all other individuals and groups from around the world interested in lung cancer, COPD, and other lung diseases to share their own work, ranging from basic medical research, epidemiology, cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying development and progression of each disease, treatments and management, as well as possible future trends in treatment and prevention. The main purpose of the Congress was to bring all interested individuals together, including clinicians, researchers, academicians, and industry members resulting in exchange of information, and development of long lasting and productive collaborative work. Participants of the conference represented more than 15 countries from North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
