AIMU is committed to delivering high quality medical education. As part of this long standing commitment, the academic leadership of the University attended a capacity building workshop organized by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP) from the 25th to the 28th July 2018 at Hyatt REGENCY, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. The workshop focused on important issues related to accreditation and quality assurance. The workshop used a mixture of presentations and small group activities. Among the resource persons were Professor Hassan from Howard University, United States, Dr Elizabeth Ingraham from ECFMG, Professor Joanna Bates from University of British Columbia, Canada, Professor Joseph Branday from University of the West Indies, Jamaica, and Professor James McKillop from the University of Glasgow, United Kingdom. The CAAM-HP secretariat from Jamaica was the organziers. The participants were divided into small groups and deliberated and presented on various accreditation scenarios. The groups worked through various CAAM-HP accreditation standards. There was also a town hall meeting where various questions were raised by the participants and a fruitful discussion ensued. Dr Alex, Dr Klir, Dr Ravi and Dr Bala represented AIMU at the workshop.
