Welcome to the human anatomy laboratory. This lab provides you with a rare opportunity to explore anatomy using dissected human cadavers. Exploring cadavers is the true approach to learning anatomy that is, experiencing anatomy in its three-dimensional reality. There is no better way to learn this subject. In lecture you will use your sense of hearing to listen and learn and your visual sense to see two-dimensional illustrations throughout the lecture. The lab opens the door to additional senses — those of touch, three-dimensional vision, and even the unique smell of a cadaver lab. This allows you to gain a total exposure to the design of the human body..
Many students find physical diagnosis skills difficult to perform when examining patients and teachers find them difficult both to demonstrate and to interpret importance. Therefore, AIMU goes beyond the basic physical diagnosis skills taught in the first year of medical school. In addition, many time-honored traditional techniques now have been studied for their accuracy and reproducibility. With limited time for evaluation of patients, it is helpful to focus on those maneuvers that most accurately and efficiently lead to diagnosis.
Welcome to the microbiology laboratory. The goal of the laboratory is to expose students to the wide variety of lives in the microbial world. Although the study of microbiology includes bacteria, viruses, algae and protozoa, this lab will concentrate primarily on the bacteria. Microbiological techniques are important in preparing the students for the much harder task of identifying the pathogenic microorganisms in a clinical and environmental specimen.
