The AIMU graduate will demonstrate the following competencies:
General and Specific Competencies:
- Utilise an integrated knowledge of the scientific principles of medicine in patient care:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the normal structure, function of the human body;
- Demonstrate knowledge of the alterations in structure and function of the body during different physiological conditions and during illness
- Apply an integrated knowledge of the basic sciences to the prevention, management and treatment of diseases and maintenance of health

- Obtain a proper medical history and perform a proper physical exam and use the information obtained to formulate an appropriate differential diagnosis and an effective management plan
- Properly document the clinical encounter and utilize data to identify health problems both at a patient and a community level;

- Apply the principles and concepts underlying normal behavior and mental illness, and to participate in the management of mental illnesses

- Effectively interact with patients
- Develop appropriate communication skills to obtain a proper history, diagnosis and to deliver an effective treatment plan to patients
